This is a place where I can explore and organize my interests. I coined the odd name "Quixotic Ironist" because it kind of sums up my life. Quixotic because I am quick to be attracted to a "truth" and inhabit it. Much like Don Quixote, I wanted to slay the beast only later to discover it was just a windmill. I've lived various religions, philosophies, ideologies, politics with a gusto, eventually moving on to something else. The other term, Ironist is my complement to Richard Roty and his influence on my thinking. Briefly, as I understand him, an ironist is someone who knows there is no privileged vocabulary, no Archimedean point whereby one can say, "This is TRUE!"; yet, one still follows a narrative, a vocabulary that functions as a foundation without actually being a foundation. I shall ruminate on Richard Rorty, theologian Don Cupitt, Naturalism, consciousness studies, agnostic Buddhist Stephen Batchelor, Pragmatism, postmodernism, etc. Really anything my fertile but facile mind is interested in. This place will be a conversation and not a debate comparing different vocabularies, different tools, and will try to be coherent but tolerate the tensions and contradictions. Let's play…
